San Marino will develop the blockchain in collaboration with VeChain

One of the smallest countries in the world, San Marino and the blockchain platform VeChain have signed a cooperation agreement, under which they will use the blockchain to improve the environment.

The agreement became part of the San Marino ecosystem creation strategy for technological innovation. With the help of VeChain, the authorities plan to encourage citizens to use environmentally friendly behavior in order to reduce carbon emissions, use water resources and reduce waste.

In order to interest citizens to be more responsible for the environment, it is planned to launch special “innovative San Marino tokens”. With their help, residents of the country will be able to access various services offered domestically. Tokens will be released on VeChain blockchain.

“We will launch a project that directly encourages the behavior of citizens and at the same time will reduce carbon dioxide emissions, water consumption and garbage production. Our main and ambitious goal is to become the first zero-emission country in the world, ”said the State Secretary of San Marino for industry, commerce, business, cooperation and telecommunications Andrea Zafferani.

According to Sergio Mottola, president of the innovation department of San Marino Innovation, such an agreement shows the country’s attractiveness for innovative companies. He said that soon projects with real results would appear in the country.

Earlier it was reported that the platform VeChain began working with the Government of Cyprus to develop blockchain solutions for public services and management.
