The 330e hybrid made its way to the BMW 3 Series

BMW unveiled its seventh generation 3-series compact sedans earlier this year at the Paris Motor Show. However, it is only now that it has decided to add the 330e PHEV hybrid electric vehicle, a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle.

The mere addition of PHEV means less that the 330e had an internal combustion engine and an electric engine. However, the latter is the main character here, because in most cases it is with his help the drivers will reach their destination. Unless the 12 kWh lithium-ion battery with a range of 60 kilometers is depleted. Then the system will shift all the work to the combustion engine. This one is double turbo with a capacity of two liters and four cylinders, which translates into a power of 184 horsepower. The mentioned electric motor in turn is capable of generating power of 68 HP (peak 109 HP). Their simultaneous work is possible thanks to the sport mode, providing 252 horsepower.

This combination in combination with an 8-speed automatic transmission accelerates to hundreds in six seconds and is able to accelerate to a maximum of 230 km / h. The key element of the new BMW 330e Plug-in is the XtraBoost system, which allows for a temporary power increase of up to 41 hp. The presence of the latest eDrive technology, which increases efficiency and fuel consumption, is also worth mentioning. However, the 330e will debut quite late, in the summer of 2019.
