Overstock CEO Jonathan Johnson believes the crypto industry is poised to train in the mainstream. As an investor and president of Medici Ventures, Johnson has been involved in financing many crypto companies for the past ten years.

In an interview with Digital Money Forum during CES 2020, Johnson spoke about the portfolio of Medical Companies. He stressed that many of them are ready to start distributing developed products. Johnson believes, however, that the crypto ecosystem is still driven by early adopters.

“There will always be those who adopt the innovations early, who will contribute to their spread. I think we are still in the early stage of adoption of the product, not in the widespread stage ”.

Johnson believes that the real value that the blockchain brings is not clear enough at present. However, adoption will increase as use cases become more visible.

He gave the example of Voatz, which offers effective blockchain solutions for voting systems.

“The main aspect is to understand the problems that the technology solves”,

Johnson said.

“For example, in the polling place, the problem is voters from abroad, military personnel and their families. Or voters with disabilities for whom the mayor must have a compliance mechanism to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act. “

In an interview with Digital Money Forum, Johnson emphasized that Overstock will focus on developing its own blockchain projects. These include the alternative tZERO trading system, regulated by the SEC and FINRA. This allows supporting the secondary trading of crypto securities by accredited and retail investors. After several years of development, tZERO has positioned itself to become a leader in the digital securities market.
