The decision on the fate of the “daughters” of “Rosneft” was not easy, said Scholz

MOSCOW, 16 Sep — PRIME. The decision to transfer the subsidiaries of Rosneft to the control of the German regulator was not easy, the safety of the production of the PCK refinery in Schwedt will be ensured, said German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

Earlier, the German Ministry of Economy and Climate Protection announced that the German Cabinet had transferred Rosneft’s subsidiaries – Rosneft Deutschland and RN Refining & Marketing – under the control of the Federal Network Agency. The agency thus gained control of Rosneft Deutschland and a corresponding stake in three refineries, PCK Schwedt, MiRo and Bayernoil.

“This decision was not easy for us… the important thing is that with this decision, production in Schwedt will be ensured. I would like to say this in particular to the employees of the refinery (PCK Schwedt) and, of course, to the state and the region,” the German leader said. His statement was broadcast live on the Phoenix TV channel.

According to the chancellor, refinery employees do not need to worry about their personal and professional future.

“This step is very important for energy supplies to Germany and it is an important investment decision for the future of the three Eastern European federal states (Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Saxony-Anhalt). By doing so, we make ourselves more independent from Russia and also from the decisions which are accepted there,” Scholz said.
