MOSCOW, 19 Sep — PRIME. Many foreign game studios are ready to sell their products to Russian customers and, since the Steam platform limits this possibility, they can enter the Russian VK Play, Alexander Kuzmenko, an independent expert on video games, shared his opinion with RIA Novosti.
Earlier on Monday, Vedomosti, citing a source, reported that VK was negotiating with a number of game studios on agreements for the exclusive representation of games on the VK Play gaming platform in Russia and the CIS.
“I think that various foreign companies can also enter this platform without any problems. The fact is that on the same Steam, far from all companies have slammed the door and banned Russians from downloading their games. There are a lot of studios, especially small ones, especially not from Europe and not from America, who took a neutral position in the current situation and did not make any political statements, and their games can be easily bought on Steam, but Steam as a platform has made it difficult to acquire them,” Kuzmenko said.
The developer of the Steam online store, Valve, on March 2, disabled the main payment methods for Russian users, including payment by Visa, Mastercard and Mir cards.
