In the past, Windows 10 users could update, download, and install drivers in a variety of ways. However, in the updated version of the OS, foreign experts found an unpleasant “surprise”: the developers blocked the function of searching and updating drivers through the built-in “Device Manager”.
Prior to the release of Build 19041.423, the driver update process was carried out through the manager (in manual or automatic mode). At the same time, the search for drivers could be launched both on a local computer and on the World Wide Web and Microsoft servers.
With the release of the latest build, Device Manager will only allow you to update and install drivers if they have been preloaded on your PC or laptop. If you need to search for new driver versions, you will have to use the “Settings” application, since the function of connecting to the Internet and Microsoft servers will be blocked in the manager.
Also in the new assembly, it became possible to search and download additional updates through the “Settings”. Now this application has a new item called “View additional updates”, which redirects the user to the driver management page. This is where you can get all the necessary information about the installed drivers and update them to the latest version.
