ToIP: IBM and R3 join the new Linux Foundation project

A myriad of large organizations have partnered with the Linux Foundation to improve security and privacy protocols for consumers and businesses.

According to a press release, the new consortium of the Linux foundation, Trust over IP (ToIP), bring together nonprofit organizations, governments and large private sector companies.

Among the members are: Accenture, IBM Security, MasterCard, Sicpa, R3, The Human Colossus Foundation, the University of Arkansas and the Canadian province of British Columbia.

The group explains that companies today find it difficult to protect and manage digital data following the arrival of new technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence (AI).

As a result, consumer mistrust in the use of their personal data would slow innovation and the adoption of new services on the web.

The ToIP Foundation This will use digital identity models that leverage interoperable credentials and the new W3C Verifiable Credentials standard to address these challenges.
