MOSCOW, 14 Sep — PRIME. Volodymyr Kudrytsky, Chairman of the Board of NPC Ukrenergo, said on Wednesday that Ukraine is now exporting more than 600 MW of electricity to neighboring countries – Poland, Moldova, Romania and Slovakia.
Earlier, at a meeting of the regional group Continental Europe ENTSO-E, the transmission system operators (TSO) of continental Europe decided to increase the export of electricity from Ukraine to the European Union up to 300 MW.
“Ukraine continues to export quite significant volumes of electricity. This is more than 600 MW of power, which is exported almost on an equal schedule to Moldova, Poland, Romania and Slovakia,” Kudritsky said at a briefing.
According to him, Ukraine is now negotiating with the Europeans on expanding the volume of electricity exports to the EU, in particular, already for the next winter. “We are actively trying to promote the idea that the export of electricity from Ukraine is not only financial support for Ukraine, Ukrainian GDP, it is export and foreign exchange earnings, it is also a factor in Europe’s security,” he said.
