Wanted to buy a PlayStation 5 SSD from MSI? Thanks to the Spatium M480 Play it is possible

MSI presented its first SSD for PlayStation 5 to the world in the form of the Spatium M480 Play model. What distinguishes it from others? First of all, care is taken to ensure that it certainly fits into the disk gap in the console, despite its own passive cooling in the form of a heat sink.

The Spatium M480 Play is the first PlayStation 5 SSD from MSI, but of course you will also put it in a PC

Fortunately, the Spatium M480 Play still uses NAND TLC memory, and more precisely, 176-layered Micron bones, despite offering up to 4 TB of storage. It is also available in 500, 1000 and 2000 GB versions, so everyone should find something for themselves, but you can’t expect the same in every model in terms of extra memory in the form of a buffer or the same TBW level.

For example, the 2 TB version of Spatium M480 Play has 2 GB of SK Hynix DDR4-2666 memory and TBW of 1400 terabytes, while offering 7 GB / s sequential read and 6.8 GB / s write and up to one million IOPS operations. Other models may differ in this matter, but each one will use the Phison E18 controller and will offer TRIM, SMART, LDPC, or AES256 / TCG OPAL2.0 / Pyrite encryption.

Each Spatium M480 Play variant will also receive a specially designed, grooved, double-finished aluminum heat sink to help prevent thermal throttling. As far as we know, the 2 TB version will be available for sale soon for $ 339, and we will wait a bit for the next variants.
