What if .. Ronaldo, Neymar and Messi receive their salary in bitcoin?

The salaries of football players such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi appeal to the imagination of many. But what does the salary of celebrities look like when they are expressed in bitcoin? There is now a website for that: bitcoinsalaries.com.

Especially many athletes

The website consists mainly of top athletes. But new names are regularly added to the list, also for non-athletes. That way we can also find rapper 50 Cent and YouTuber PewDiePie. In 2018 50 cents came into the news when he admitted to having earned bitcoin in 2014. With the value of today, he would have about eight million dollars in bitcoin.

But the top earner from the list is Lionel Messi, who receives $ 127 million annually. Converted to more than 12,000 bitcoin. And who knows that Messi is also interested in receiving a salary in bitcoin. At the end of 2017, he entered into a partnership with SIRIN Labs, a manufacturer of a blockchain phone.

Cristiano Ronaldo is in second place, receiving $ 109 million a year (almost 10,275 bitcoin). It is still unknown whether “CR7” has anything with bitcoin or cryptocurrency.

Interest in bitcoin from American Football

In the football world, the athletes are not yet very excited about bitcoin and cryptocurrency. But that’s different with the NFL, the American Football League. Russell Okung of the LA Chargers, for example, strongly supports bitcoin as a salary. On May 14, 2019, he posted the “Pay me in bitcoin” tweet:

Pay me in Bitcoin.

– Russell Okung ?? (@RussellOkung) May 14, 2019

If Okung is paid in bitcoin, he will receive 1,285 bitcoin per year. And Matt Barkley, quarterback for the Buffalo Bills even admits bitcoin mining. Barkley does receive considerably less salary than Russell Okung, namely more than 1.5 million dollars (146 bitcoin) per year.

Already am mining https://t.co/Wgn8KVdLYA

Do you want to look up how much salary your bitchin or film hero receives in bitcoin? Then that is possible here.
