Microsoft updated the latest versions of Windows 10 with the next Patch Tuesday which is expected in less than two weeks. If in the past the roadmap of Microsoft in terms of updates was much more iron, it has been a long time since the company releases updates even on unexpected dates. It is always about optional updates – with rare exceptions – which can be manually installed by all users.
New updates are available for Windows 1909, or the November 2019 Update, and for Windows 1903or the May 2019 Update. They are two very similar updates, which since the release of the most recent share the patches because of the similarity between the two codes. With the installation of the patches Windows 10 1909 goes to the build 18363.693, while Windows 10 1903 reaches the build 18362.693. It is no coincidence that the three final numbers are identical, given that the two patches share the news, or rather the fixes, present).
The optional Windows 10 updates they do not include additional features compared to their original versions, but only bug or vulnerability fixes and optimizations in the code. Let's sift through the different news, as well as from the official Microsoft changelog:
- Updates an issue that prevents the speech platform application from opening for several minutes in a high noise environment.
- Updates an issue that reduces the image quality in the Windows Mixed Reality (WMR) home environment.
- Updates an issue that might prevent ActiveX content from loading.
- Improves the battery performance during Modern Standby mode.
- Updates an issue that causes Microsoft Narrator to stop working when a user session is longer than 30 minutes.
- Addresses an issue that adds an unwanted keyboard layout as the default after an upgrade even if you have already removed it.
- Updates an issue that prevents the Windows Search box from rendering properly.
- Updates an issue that prevents the printer settings user interface from displaying properly.
- Updates an issue that prevents some applications from printing to network printers.
However, there are no known bugs on both builds, however, since these are non-mandatory updates, it is not necessary to install them on your systems unless you encounter one of the bugs mentioned above. All the fixes present will however be introduced on the patches that will be released during the next Patch Tuesday, automatically on all compatible PCs.
