“Zen 4 and RDNA 3 keep the schedule for 2022”

AMD presented brilliant results for the second quarter of the year on July 28, and during the accompanying investor interview, the company’s CEO Lisu Su spoke about future product plans. An unusually strong belief in the future characterized the conversation, which takes place once a quarter.

We remain on-track to launch next-generation products in 2022, including our Zen 4 processors built with industry-leading 5nm process technology and our RDNA 3 GPUs. We also recently demonstrated the latest advance in our chiplet strategy with our differentiated 3D die-stacking technology that enables significantly denser and efficient connections between stacked chips.

– Lisu Su, CEO of AMD

Among other things, Su talked about how the 5-nanometer Zen 4 and RDNA 3 keep the schedule for the intended launch in 2022. These circuits form the basis for what is assumed to be launched as the Ryzen 7000 series and Radeon RX 7000 series, respectively. Before that, the company is expected to launch the Ryzen 6000 series based on Zen 3+ and Zen 3D, where the latter is based on AMD’s 3D V-Cache technology.

In addition to the technical progress progressing as planned, Su says that the company is generally doing well. Among other things, she mentioned specific details such as that the calculation cards Radeon Instinct and Ryzen 9 processors both double sales compared to the previous year in their respective segments.

AMD predicts the greatest growth in the data center segment, where Radeon Instinct and the company’s Epyc processors have gone from accounting for about 10 percent of the company’s sales to over 20 percent in one year. The forecasts for AMD as a whole also look bright, with an annual growth rate of 60 percent now set, in contrast to the previous rate of 37 percent growth.
