A company that develops carbon dioxide batteries with a huge investment

Italian company Energy Dome has just announced the completion of a funding round that has given it access to $ 11 million for further work. This money will go to development and demonstration to provide the world with better carbon dioxide batteries that will significantly improve solar energy storage.

According to Energy Dome, carbon dioxide batteries are the future of cheap electricity storage

Energy Dome, in order to provide the world with a cheap form of energy storage, proposed the use of carbon dioxide as the basis for extensive storage of electricity. The idea is to use surplus energy, in which it is a flexible bladder in the form of a dome filled with CO₂ in the gaseous state, it would compress the electric turbine system, which on the one hand would generate heat and, on the other hand, liquefy the gas.

While the temperature itself would be discharged into the thermal energy storage system, the liquid would be stored under pressure at ambient temperature. In the energy recovery cycle, the liquid carbon dioxide would be influenced by the heat accumulated in the “charging” process.

The entire process would change the state of CO₂ from liquid to gas, during which the generated energy would drive another set of turbines generating more than 75% of the current lost in the charging process. In turn, the carbon dioxide would revert to a gaseous state, i.e. back to the initial bladder, restarting the cycle all over again.
