A treat for beekeepers? This house with an inner hive will allow you to sleep with a million bees

Although the World Bee Day is behind us (it took place on May 20), it is worth mentioning the work of the Italian beekeeper Rocco Filomeno, who built a bizarre cottage. This one is open to guests and allows them to sleep directly on a fully functioning hive that has been built into the ceiling.

A house with an internal beehive was created

This cottage, unique to any beekeeper, is called Wonder Bee & Bee and is located near the village of Grottole in southern Italy. It cost $ 17,000 to create it, raised as part of a crowdfunding campaign, and 17 volunteers were involved in its construction. It consists mainly of fir and birch wood (except the windows) and includes a total of as many as nine apiaries integrated with its outer part.

It is definitely a cottage that can either be used as a tourist attraction in style (get in, listen to the buzzing and leave) or offer it to tourists looking for an overnight stay. There is only one room with two single beds, a storage room, a sink and a jug of water. The toilet is in another house nearby, the shower is on the olive tree, and instead of the fridge, visitors can use … a bag filled with ice.

According to information from Airbnb, about a million bees live in this rugged, rectangular hut, and the income from renting it is donated to bee protection by a local NGO.
