Alder-Lake N specification. These are new Intel processors with Gracemont cores

If you thought that dozens of processors already presented by Intel are not enough, you can be sure that the offer of this manufacturer will be enriched with special systems only with Gracemont cores. Today we learned what exactly the Alder-Lake N specification will cover.

Intel is preparing energy-saving processors with Gracemont cores, i.e. the Alder-Lake N Specification

Alder-Lake N is designed for ultra-low-power and cost-effective computers, so they have only modest energy-saving Gracemont cores that do not support multi-threading. From what is known at the moment, the most efficient chip from this family is to connect two clusters that will provide eight cores with access to 2 MB of L2 memory per binder and a shared L3 memory deck (via Coelacanth’s Dream).

Contrary to appearances, eight Gracemont cores provide considerable performance, even compared to the “large” cores of the previous generation Skylake. This is why Intel’s upcoming low power / low cost PC platform can offer performance on a par with premium PCs released some three or four years ago. Importantly, these processors will come with iGPUs based on the Xe-LP architecture with 32 execution units that support the latest video signal encoding / decoding (AV1, H.264, H.265), supporting Dolby Vision and [email protected]

It is not yet known how Intel intends to sell its Alder Lake-N processors. However, we expect that it will fit into the generation of Pentium Silver and Celeron processors for desktops, NAS and cheap notebooks. Ultimately, Intel can offer some specialized processors under the Atom brand based on Gracemont cores.
