AmaZix has released a bot to detect cryptocurrency fraudsters in Telegram

Consulting blockchain-company AmaZix has opened access to its “bot moderator” to help get rid of cryptocurrency fraudsters in the popular Telegram messaging application.

Based on data collected over two years when moderating groups using a bot, AmaZix created a black list of Telegram users. Of the more than 140 cryptocurrency groups, 730,000 users were analyzed, 54,500 of whom were blocked for fraud attempts.

It is reported that blocked users tried to impersonate group administrators, posted information about fraudulent offers or free distributions of cryptocurrencies, published links to social clone sites and other websites, and also attempted phishing attacks to steal users’ private keys.

AmaZix CEO Jonas Karlberg explained how the system works:

“Thanks to our service in the format of a bot added to a group, we offer free real-time threat analysis for Telegram. As soon as a user publishes malicious content in any of the groups we track, he is automatically blocked in all groups and added to our blacklist. ”

According to Karlberg, fraud cases were encountered in all groups moderated by AmaZix. “As soon as the project grows, fraudsters immediately appear. Telegram offers complete anonymity, so criminals use it without fear of consequences, ”said Karlberg.

Dejan Horvat, Chief Operating Officer of the company, said that the service works only in English, but many of its functions are available regardless of this. For example, sending links or accounts is automatically blocked. “If someone sends spam, regardless of the language, the bot takes appropriate actions. The only feature where the language is important is the list of obscene expressions that the bot also moderates, ”he said.

Horvath added that if a user is blacklisted erroneously, he can report this to the project team, “which will examine the situation and, if necessary, remove it from the list.” According to Horvat, currently AmaZix has no official relationship with Telegram.

“We hope that by opening up access and encouraging more people to use and contribute to our service, we will catch fraudsters more quickly. This effectively prevents fraudulent activity in the Telegram, ”Karlberg concluded.

In the spring, it was reported that consulting company AmaZix signed a cooperation agreement with the cryptocurrency fund Olymp Capital to develop the blockchain ecosystem.
