AMD Radeon 300 series in store

At its own PC Gaming Show event, AMD officially announced the new Radeon 300 series, which initially ranges from the mid-range R7 up to the higher-performing R9 class. Now the sales start for the series begins and with that the company releases the complete specifications.

* Typical Board Power (TBP) is an average value that shows the power consumption of the entire graphics card at “typical” load in games.

At the top of the Radeon 300 series are the Radeon R9 390X and R9 390, which succeed the previous flagship models R9 290X and R9 290. On the whole, it is a minor increase in the graphics processor and a larger one for the graphics memory, which steps up from 5,000 MHz to 6,000 MHz, while the memory volume is now 8 GB as standard.

Under these models is the Radeon R9 380, which is a slightly factory overclocked variant of the R9 285 “Tonga”. Then comes the R7 370, formerly known as both R7 265 and HD 7850, which means the graphics processor Curacao / Pitcairn and thus lacks support for AMD Freesync. At the bottom of the hierarchy is the R7 360, which is the first consumer card with a stripped-down variant of the Bonaire graphics processor.

The table above shows the lowest prices for each graphics card at the retailer Inet, where there are some models that cost a few hundred bucks more. What they all have in common is that no one follows AMD’s reference design without radiator designs coming from the companies themselves.

The Radeon R9 Fury X will not be launched until June 24, but already now AMD is taking care to unveil the full specifications. On the whole, it is not about any surprises. The Fiji graphics processor comes with 4,096 stream processors which in this case tick at up to 1,050 MHz. This includes, as previously known, 4 GB of memory of the HBM type, which with an ultra-wide memory bus of 4,096 bits provides a full 512 GB / s.

The approaching flagship has a recommended approximate price of $ 649, which is exactly the same as for the Geforce GTX 980 Ti. This should mean a Swedish price of around SEK 7,490–7,990 after VAT and other fees.
