Geforce GTX 800M in roadmap from Clevo

After the launch of the Geforce 700 series, the focus is on the next generation, which according to the plan will be on the market sometime next year. Exactly what this means, however, is far from established.

German Computerbase is now discovering a planning document from the computer manufacturer Clevo, which is rumored that the Geforce 800M will appear in laptops as early as February next year. There are a total of six different variants; half in MXM (plug-in board) and the rest with BGA connection (soldered to the motherboard).

The graphics parts are called Geforce GTX-880M, GTX-870M, GTX-860M, GTX850M and GT-840M. The most expensive models are accompanied by GDDR5 memory, while the slower variants use the DDR3 standard. Two of these, GTX-880M and GTX-860M, will also be available in SLI configuration.

According to previous information, Nvidia will launch the architecture Maxwell in 2014, the successor to today’s Kepler. This suggests that the Geforce 800M series is the first in the new generation, but at the same time, both AMD and Nvidia have a long history of tinkering with model names, especially when it comes to laptop circuits. Exactly what the Geforce 800M means thus remains to be seen.
