The Geforce 600 series makes its debut in drivers

Occasionally, secrets hidden in Nvidia’s drivers appear. This time, it’s VR-Zone that discovers a couple of interesting text strings gossiping about two upcoming graphics chips in the as yet unreleased Geforce 600 series, by all accounts for laptops.

Nvidia’s next generation graphics processors are based on the Kepler architecture, which is manufactured in 28 nanometers, a shrinkage from today’s 40 nm. This time, Nvidia chooses to start the new generation with scaled-down circuits and then gradually introduce more powerful variants in the higher performance classes.

The Geforce Kepler and 600 series are expected to appear in early 2012. However, it may take six months or more before today’s Geforce GTX 570, 580 and 590 are replaced by new models.
