AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT in January? Rumors about the new Navi GPU

AMD wants to make the most of the RDNA architecture used by Navi video cards. It is no secret that in 2020 we will see an important update with the arrival of RDNA 2, which should also bring the dowry support for Ray Tracing, that’s why the American house is aiming for the greatest possible use of its current architecture.
For now, the Radeon RX 5700 and 5700 XT have arrived in the medium-high range (here our review), in the low one the RX 5500 XT has recently landed on the market. The former can be purchased between 340 and 420 euros and offer solid performance in 1080p and 1440p, the second instead is designed for Full HD and starts at a cost of around € 200 in the 4 GB variant to rise to around € 250. for the 8 GB one.
The vacuum left between 250 and 350 euros is currently occupied by NVIDIA, that’s why one Radeon 5600 XT it could find a natural position on the market, with performances that could reach those of a Vega 56, at least according to the first rumors.

An increasingly rich offer

Never before has the GPU market been rich in alternatives. In the range between 150 and 250 euros there are now many models, for fierce competition between NVIDIA and AMD. Going up with the price, however, there is not such a wide offer, also to find the first alternative of AMD you have to exceed 300 euros, leaving the GPU such as the GTX 1660 Super or the GTX 1660 Ti free. That’s why the rumors that want an RX 5600 XT in development have a valid logical foundation, even if this variant has not yet been confirmed.
According to rumors, AMD should use it the same chip as the Radeon 5700, Navi 10, with some computing units disabled and a reduced memory bus. In the 5600 XT there should be 30 Compute Units, for a total of 1920 Stream Processor, along with 6 GB of GDDR6 RAM and a 192-bit bus. The Chip Navi 10 used on the 5700 XT offers 2560 Stream Processor and a 256-bit bus, however compared to the 1408 Stream Processor of the RX 5500 XT the performance jump should be significant, as indicated by the first benchmarks that emerged online. Scores found on 3D Mark indicate that the 5600 XT should be between 30 and 35% faster than an 8 GB 5500 XT, approaching the performance of the Vega 56, a GPU designed for 1440p gaming.

Just this resolution seems the target of the next 5600 XT, which could therefore give a hard time even to the RTX 2060 on the performance front. Obviously we are basing these assumptions on the rumors that have emerged so far, all to be confirmed, but AMD may have an ace up its sleeve for the beginning of next year. A good appetizer awaiting RDNA 2 architecture, which will most likely be presented in the second half of 2020.
