AMD would be ready to expand the Ryzen 3000 “Zen 2” range downwards, with two new models called Ryzen 3 3100 and Ryzen 3 3300X. It would in fact be two quad-core with SMT technology (8 threads), the announcement of which is expected in the coming weeks. Not to be excluded that they debut, we add, together with the expected B550 motherboard.
According to leaker momomo_us, the model 3100 would be able to reach one frequency of 3.9 GHz, would have 18 MB cache in total (16 MB L3 cache and 2 MB L2 cache) and one 65 watt TDP. Ryzen 3 3300X instead he would push himself to 4.3 GHz, while the rest of the features would be the same.
AMD does not introduce quad-cores with SMT and without integrated graphics for the consumer market since the first generation of Ryzen. The company at the time introduced the Ryzen 5 1400 and 1500X models, not to mention the SMT-free Ryzen 3 1200 and 1300X. As for subsequent generations, AMD has created some models, officially targeting them only for the OEM market. Today the only quad-core with SMT in the Ryzen 3000 range, but based on Zen + architecture, is the Ryzen 5 3400G APU (Amazon).
It cannot be excluded that the fate of these two new models is the OEM market, but at the moment there is no information, without forgetting that Intel will introduce the new 10th generation Core range in late May, by presenting several Core i3s on the market – the names of Core i3-10100, i3-10300 and i3-10320 – with 4 cores and 8 threads. And the arrival of F models with GPU disabled cannot be excluded.
As for the technical configuration of the alleged quad-core Ryzen 3000 Zen 2, AMD could completely shut down one of the two CCX that make up a CCD. The other option would be to keep two cores active in each CCX. We will see, as mentioned the announcement would not be very far.
