Gaming news from Lenovo: Legion desktop and mobile systems

Lenovo has announced a rich update of its range of systems intended for gamers, belonging to the Legion family. New processors and GPUs characterize these models, which first differ due to the change of branding: Lenovo has in fact chosen to adopt those Legion 7, Legion 5, Legion Tower 5 is IdeaPad Gaming 3 so as to simplify the overall approach to the range.

Legion 7 is the top notebook proposal of the range, characterized by the most powerful and complete hardware configuration. 2.1Kg weight and metal structure characterize this model, with a 15-inch diagonal Full HD screen capable of a refresh rate up to 240Hz with support for NVIDIA G-Sync technology. The CPU sector sees Intel Core models of the tenth generation of the H series, up to the Core i9 CPUs, while for the GPU there is space up to the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Super Max-Q proposal.

Lenovo Legion Y740Si it is the thinnest and lightest high-end proposal, with a weight of only 1.7Kg. Integrates 10th generation Intel Core processors up to the Core i9 range, 15-inch screen with 4K resolution and can be connected to the external box Lenovo Legion BoostStation, which via Thuderbolt technology allows to drive an external GPU so as to obtain the maximum in terms of frames per second.

The range Legion 5 sees the use of AMD Ryzen processors of the 4000 series, while for the Legion 5i models we find tenth generation Intel Core processors. Legion 5i notebooks are available with 15 or 17-inch diagonal screens: for the second, the refresh rate is 144Hz, while for the 15-inch model it is possible to obtain a panel capable of maximum refresh up to 240Hz.

IdeaPad Gaming 3i Finally, it is the proposal to enter the world of Lenovo’s gaming notebooks: a tenth generation Intel Core processor flanked by an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 video card, with a 15.6-inch screen characterized by a 120Hz refresh rate. Also for this series Lenovo offers a declination with AMD Ryzen 4000 processors, which is called IdeaPad Gamign 3.

Legion Tower 5iFinally, it is a desktop gaming system based on Intel Core processors of the Comet Lake S family and video cards up to the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Super model. It therefore combines high computing power with an overall compact footprint. By the end of the year Lenovo will also offer Legion Tower 5, based on AMD Ryzen processors.

The Lenovo Legion Y740Si laptop updated with Intel Core i9 mobile processors up to the latest generation 10 series will be available starting from $ 1,199.99; Lenovo Legion BoostStation eGPU starts at $ 249.99 as a standalone or optional accessory to pair with an 8GB NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 6GB or AMD GPU Radeon ™ RX 5700 XT. Both will be available from May 2020.

The 15-inch Lenovo Legion 7i laptop will start at $ 1,599.99 and is expected to be available from May 2020. The Intel-based 15-inch Lenovo Legion 5i will start at $ 829.99; the 17-inch Lenovo Legion 5i1 laptop will start at $ 1,129.99. Both sizes are expected to be available from May 2020

The AMD-based 15-inch Lenovo Legion 5 will start at $ 849.99 and is expected to be available in May 2020. The Lenovo Legion Tower 5i1 desktop will start at $ 799.99 and is expected to be available in May 2020. Lenovo Legion Tower 5 will offer AMD Ryzen desktop processors as an option later this year. The Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3i1 15-inch laptop will start at $ 729.99 and is expected to be available from May 2020.21 IdeaPad Gaming 3 will offer AMD Ryzen mobile processors as an option later this year.
