In a "Product Change Advisory" published a few weeks ago and so far gone unnoticed, AMD announced the intention of cease support for the current version of the StoreMI technology, eliminating the download of the necessary software from March 31st.
StoreMI is a technology introduced in 2018 with Ryzen 2000 processors and related platforms based on 400 chipsets, but then updated to support the X399 and X570 platforms, which allows you to combine all the storage solutions integrated into the system (NVMe SSD, SATA, hard disk, Optane storage) in one volume. It also allows users to add up to 2 GB of system RAM to the storage volume.
StoreMI positions the data that is accessed most frequently in a completely automatic way within the faster storage solutions, while the rest are directed towards the slower storage solutions. Only limit? The fastest drive cannot exceed a capacity of 256 GB, an important limitation nowadays.
According to AMD, StoreMI accelerates Windows startup up to 2.3 times compared to a standard configuration, allowing in parallel to load software and games up to 9.8 and 2.9 times faster respectively.
If you go to the dedicated page on the AMD website, there is a very eloquent message: "AMD StoreMI storage acceleration software will no longer be available for download after March 31, 2020. An exciting new version, with enhanced features, is planned for release in 2Q20".
Those who actively use StoreMI can continue to do so without problems, but AMD should no longer offer technical or corrective support. The good news is that a new version with improved features will arrive by the end of June, probably without anachronistic limits.
In the meantime, there is the paid and more advanced alternative Enmotus FuzeDrive. AMD does not recommend or encourage users to download the current version of StoreMI from sites other than their own. The company says these sites are not authorized to distribute the technology and AMD cannot guarantee the authenticity of what is being downloaded.
