Aquacomputer Ultitube Pro with D5 Next in the test – the egg-laying woolly milk sow?

Anyone planning water cooling will sooner or later ask themselves the question: “Which pump do I need?” If you turn the question to a community, you will get many different answers. The answer will mostly be: “A D5”. In this review, I would like to find out why this is the case and whether the massively expanded version of Aquacomputer is the egg-laying woolly milk pig.

Unboxing and first impression

First of all, let’s remove the device from its packaging and look at the contents.

The scope of delivery includes a heap of assembly material, connection cables for the pump control and the RGB lighting, as well as a quick start guide, which I have included below as a PDF.

The device makes a massive and very high-quality impression. The cylinder of the expansion tank is made of borosilicate glass, which I will go into in more detail later.

The terminal with the two G1 / 4 “connections is made of POM / Acetal, which has a very decisive advantage, which I will also go into in the course of the review.

The pump, dubbed D5 NEXT, has an OLED display and an autonomous control system if you do not want to connect the controller to the mainboard.

There is a thin stainless steel grid on the floor, which acts as a filter. Loose particles and air bubbles are reliably filtered out of the circuit at this point.
