Asus and Gigabyte cast the GTX 1660 Super in mini format

Those who want to build computers of the smaller format have limited space to work with, and all small shrinkage of the computer components is therefore desirable. One component that tends to take up a lot of space is the graphics card, and graphics card makers therefore produce more compact versions of their cards that better fit these compact builds.

Nvidia launched the mid-range Geforce GTX 1660 Super just a week ago. Here the architecture Turing is paired without ray tracingparts from the RTX series with 6 GB of GDDR6 memory with a memory frequency of 14,000 MHz. This is a step up from the 8,000 MHz used for the graphics memory of the standard Geforce GTX 1660, which provides increased memory bandwidth.

Asus takes this basic frame and shrinks it to models of the format Mini ITX. The Asus Geforce GTX 1660 Super Phoenix card is accompanied by an OC variant where the difference is a modest factory overclocked clock frequency of 1,830 MHz in OC mode, compared to 1,815 MHz for the standard card. The length of the cards measures in at 17.4 centimeters.

Just like the specifications of the reference cards, the Asus power supply comes with an 8-pin power plug. Picture outputs consist of a DVI output, a Displayport 1.4 and an HDMI 2.0b. The radiator uses a fan with double ball bearings and occupies two card slots in the system.

Gigabyte is instead preparing a single model called the Geforce GTX 1660 Super Mini ITX OC 6G. The card is exactly 17 centimeters long and follows Nvidia’s reference to the letter boost1,800 MHz frequency and 6 GB GDDR6 memory at 14,000 MHz.

The radiator uses a single fan that takes up two card slots and a heat conductor ensures that the fan can stop completely when the card is not loaded. Power is obtained through an 8-pin connector. In terms of picture outputs, Gigabyte provides three Displayport 1.4 and one HDMI 2.0b.

All graphics cards are on sale now. Gigabyte’s model has a price tag of SEK 2,990, while the OC variant of the Asus model has a price of approximately SEK 3,300.
