Asus releases the Geforce GTX 680 DirectCU II

Following the initial wave of reference models, the partner manufacturers present the new Geforce GTX 680 with custom-designed circuit boards and coolers. The latest is Asus with two graphics cards for overclockers and enthusiasts.

Asus Geforce GTX 680 DirectCU II OC and DirectCU II TOP includes first and foremost the radiator of the same name, which is recognizable from its predecessor GTX 580. The construction contains five heat conduction pipes, double 100 mm fans and takes up two extra card slots (a total of three). This should give 20 percent lower temperatures and 14 dB quieter running compared to the reference model.

To further facilitate overclockers, 10-phase “digital” power supply via DIGI + VRM is used, extra durable components according to “Super Alloy Power” with 2.5 times longer life than normal and VGA Hotwire and GPU Tweak, the latter overclocking functions in hardware and software respectively .

The manufacturer also increases the clock frequencies already from the factory. The standard variant (OC) of the Geforce GTX 680 DirectCU II spins at 1,019 MHz GPU and 1,084 MHz at automatic overclocking via GPU Boost. The TOP version goes slightly higher to 1,138 MHz GPU and 1,201 MHz GPU Boost. The memory frequencies remain at the 6,008 MHz of the reference model.

Last but not least, 6 + 8-pin PCI Express connectors, connection to PCI Express 3.0 and video outputs for two DVIs, HDMI 1.4a and Displayport 1.2. Asus’ new graphics card must be available in Swedish stores within 1-2 weeks with recommended prices of SEK 5,095 and SEK 5,295, including VAT.
