About a month ago, the Geforce GTX 680 was released, which stepped up to the performance throne with the GK104 graphics processor, which made many enthusiasts lighten their wallets. Anyone who wants to upgrade, however, must look with light and lantern to come across a copy.
Many readers now contact SweClockers and wonder where the new graphics cards actually went. The question is forwarded to four large retailers, who are given the opportunity to talk about the situation in the market.
We have received an unusually good award so far and for a launch in the performance class, we can only be satisfied. It is almost as if it covered our entire need on an ongoing basis and it is really one of the unusual things on occasions like this.
For example, the previous launch from AMD was much tougher and we constantly had to vacuum the entire market for more graphics cards. Above all, it feels like Sweden is prioritized by Nvidia.
Unfortunately, the supply of Geforce GTX 680 is very poor and demand is high. We get hold of a few smaller volumes here and there but unfortunately not enough to cover the need. We currently do not know when we can have a stable supply in larger volumes.
Demand for the Geforce GTX 680 is high, but thanks to a close collaboration with Nvidia and the graphics card manufacturers, we get regular deliveries to our warehouse. We expect to have delivered to all incoming orders shortly and be able to show a positive stock balance.
We have had quite a good supply of Geforce GTX 680 from MSI almost from the launch as they focused very hard on us getting cards. Absolutely the worst at delivering is Asus.
From what I can see, it will continue like this for a while in the future before it comes loose, probably later in the summer.
In summary, supply is unstable. Komplett and CDON report a general shortage of graphics cards, while Webhallen and Inet expect ongoing deliveries and relatively good access to the Geforce GTX 680.
The question now is how Nvidia will handle the launch of the Geforce GTX 690, which is based on the same graphics processor as the GTX 680. The semiconductor manufacturer TSMC does not succeed in getting enough circuits in 28 nanometers, which forces Nvidia to look for more alternatives.
