Battlefield 2042 is so dead, it could go free

We already announced 2 weeks ago that Battlefield 2042 it was pretty much dead, to the point that Steam was starting to give some players money back. Back then, the game had a peak of less than 9,000 simultaneous players, and now the bleeding continues, because thanks to SteamDB we know that this weekend the best peak of simultaneous players has been 7,945 players, which implies losing about 14% of the players in 2 weeks.

As if that wasn’t enough, the game’s ratings on Steam are already “mostly negative“both recently and in general. Due to this, according to the latest rumors in the industry, the developers of the title would be thinking of making the game ‘Free-to-Play’ to increase the number of available players.

To give us an idea of how dead the game is, a well-known seller of ‘chetos’ has announced they have stopped selling any method of cheating in Battlefield 2042, and this is not due to some magnificent improvement in the game’s ‘anti-cheat’ system, but rather not even the chetos themselves want to play this game, so it is not profitable for them to invest time in always having it updated. What’s more, those people who paid for a lifetime subscription are allowed to replace the subscription to any Call of Duty game.

“Let’s discontinue [los chetos] of Battlefield 2042 from our store. All subscriptions will meet their expiration terms, but there will be no possibility of renewing them or spaces available for reservation.

For now you can continue to use the cheats normally. Subscribers with a lifetime subscription can change their subscription to any Call of Duty title, The reason for this decision is the current game performance issue affecting cheats and most people are no longer using their subscription since the game is dying.”
