Binance cryptocurrency exchange CEO Changpeng Zhao has denied rumors that hackers have gained access to the site’s confidential information.
In his records on social network Twitter August 7, Zhao spoke about rumors regarding the alleged leak of KYC data from the exchange’s customers as an attempt to spread fear, uncertainty and doubt.
“Do not succumb to panic and fear. We are studying the problem and will soon report all the information we know, ”he wrote.
The concern of the exchange users began after the photos of passports and identity cards allegedly owned by Binance users began to appear on the Telegram channel called “FIND YOUR BINANCE KYC”. At the moment, the number of channel members has already exceeded 9,700 people and continues to grow.
Although the exchange has not yet issued an official statement, Binance PR manager Leah Li said:
“There are inconsistencies when comparing this data with the data in our system. There is currently no evidence that any images were obtained from Binance, as they do not contain a digital watermark printed by our system. ”
Note that in recent years, Binance has repeatedly faced security issues with its platform. In May of this year, 7,000 BTC was stolen from the hot Binance wallet. In addition, in 2016, the platform was also hacked.
