Corsair creates a concept of panels with LED Capellix for boxes

What are Capellix LEDs?

Last year Corsair presented its new Capellix LED lighting system, with the Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB RAM at the head of the sign. These LEDs are much smaller that the normal LEDs that we have today in almost all devices (in comparison, their size is 0.2 mm2 compared to 2.8 mm2 of normal LEDs) and, therefore, they allow to create lighting environments much more defined and immersive.

To achieve this, Corsair together with Primax (as the technology has been co-developed by both) has eliminated the diode layer, making the substrate layer in direct contact with the PCB, which has already achieved not only reduce the size but also make the lighting be 60% brighter, with a 40% less consumption of energy and with a 35% longer lifespan compared to normal RGB LEDs.

Capellix LEDs applied to PC cases

What Corsair has shown now is a new lighting concept using this type of LEDs, but instead of integrating them into the boxes themselves, what it has done has been to create transparent and very thin sheets in which you have integrated these LEDs to create three-dimensional lighting environments, since they are designed to be glued on tempered glass panels of PC cases. By the way, in these sheets they have not even seen the connection cables between LEDs.

The bad part of this new concept is the wiring, since although it is not seen on the sheet it is much more complex than that of a conventional LED strip, for example. They have not given more information about it, but we understand that this means that the transparent sheets will be tailored for certain models of boxes nothing more, we can not cut them as it happens with the LED strips for example.

For the moment Corsair has not given release date or price of this new product, and in fact they have mentioned that they are still considering if they are going to include it in special editions of boxes that they already have in the market (which, in our opinion, is most likely), if they will sell it as separate products, or if they will leave it for future releases of new products of the company.

In any case, it seems that there is still time for any of these three options to happen, but it still seems a very interesting concept and that we will certainly see, since since Corsair has the exclusive of the Capellix LED patent it is evident that they will want to exploit it while the competition cannot do it.
