EVGA gives the Geforce RTX 2070 Super a real memory overclocking

When partner manufacturers get the chance to get their hands on graphics circuits from AMD and Nvidia, they usually invest in an overclocked graphics processor and advanced cooling solution. Relatively few invest in overclocking the graphics memory, even though they are simpler components to overclock. EVGA breaks this trend with a graphics card whose memory overclocking is almost as bulky as the product name.

EVGA Geforce RTX 2070 Super FTW3 Ultra + is for the most part a typical partner-made product. This means 2,560 CUDA cores of the Turing architecture, which are overclocked to 1,815 MHz base frequency over the 1,605 MHz reference model. This is usually accompanied by 8 GB of GDDR6 memory, but the memory frequency has been really scared up against the reference design.

Where the standard version Geforce RTX 2070 Super has an effective memory frequency of 14,000 MHz, EVGA’s new Super variant takes the step up to 15,500 MHz. This takes the memory bandwidth to 496 GB / s, which is the same frequency and bandwidth that big brother Geforce RTX 2080 Super delivers in reference version.

Furthermore, the graphics card is equipped with EVGA’s cooling solution ICX2, which consists partly of a physical cooling solution and partly of heat sensors that provide real-time monitoring of temperatures. A total of nine sensors are placed on the graphics circuit to control the fan speeds for cooling the graphics circuit, the memory and the VRM unit.

According to EVGA’s information, ICX2 will lower temperatures by 14 percent compared to the company’s predecessors in the GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 series, and 19 percent lower noise levels. The graphics card is also obligatory and equipped with RGB lighting that can be controlled with the Precision X1 software. The software also supports individual fan speed adjustment for multi-GPU sets.

The EVGA Geforce RTX 2070 Super FTW3 Ultra + occupies 2.75 slots in the chassis with a length of 302 mm. The card is powered by two 8-pin PCI Express cables and has a TDP value of 215 W.

The price lands at 599.99 USD, corresponding to approximately SEK 7,300 including VAT. At the time of writing, the graphics card is not yet available at Swedish retailers.
