Water cooling their components is a popular phenomenon among computer enthusiasts, partly for the overclocking possibilities this means but also to keep the sound level down. Most graphics card manufacturers today have models with pre-assembled closed water coolers, but slightly more unusual are pre-assembled water blocks.

Gigabyte is now announcing a new model of Geforce GTX 1080 with pre-installed water block. The model is called Geforce GTX 1080 Xtreme Gaming Waterforce WB and comes with a comprehensive water block of copper. The card is also equipped with RGB lighting that shines through the acrylic window.

In the OC mode of the card, it has a clock frequency of 1,784 MHz at base and 1936 MHz at boost, an increase of just over 200 MHz over Nvidia’s standard frequencies. In its Gaming mode, which is the standard version of the card directly out of the box, it is about 1,759 and 1,898 MHz at base respective boost.

On the memory front, the 8GB GDDR5X graphics card comes over a 256-bit memory bus, with a clock frequency of 10,400 MHz in OC mode and 10,206 MHz in Gaming. The connection path involves a DVI-D, three Displayports and an HDMI socket on the back of the card.

It is also equipped with two HDMI ports on the front of the card, which are intended to be connected to the chassis front panel to facilitate connection of VR headsets. Two 8-pin PCI Express connectors are required for power supply and Gigabyte recommends a power supply of at least 500 W.

The Gigabyte Geforce GTX 1080 Waterforce WB is expected to be available in stores within the next few weeks at an as yet unknown price tag.
