GeForce GTX TITAN Z - Is it Good for Gaming

GeForce GTX TITAN Z: Overview | Testing | Specs| Is it good for gaming – The announcement of a new “two-headed monster” called the GeForce GTX TITAN Z took place at the end of March at the 2014 GTC (GPU Technology Conference). NVIDIA Corporation proudly refers to its brainchild as “the world’s fastest video card.”

The new ultimate model combines two fully functional (not truncated) graphics chips with the GK110 marking, built on the Kepler architecture. We see the same GPUs standing alone in the most productive video cards from NVIDIA so far – GeForce GTX TITAN Black and GeForce GTX 780Ti. Each such full-fledged chip has 2880 CUDA cores at its disposal, therefore, their total number is 5760 in the new product. Also, in total, the announced video card has 12 GB of GDDR5 memory and a 768-bit access bus. Individually, each GPU has 6 GB of memory, a 384-bit bus, and a base clock speed of 705 MHz. However, the GPU Boost 2.0 feature allows you to “overclock” each graphics core to 876 MHz. The texture fill rate declared by the manufacturer is 338 gigatexels per second. The maximum memory bandwidth is 672 GB/s. Computing performance is 8 TFLOPS.

It is also noteworthy that the reference sample has a cooling system equipped with a single fan, similar to that installed on the previous “two-headed” model – GeForce GTX 690. Despite this, the engineers of the “green” corporation promise a fairly quiet operation of the new video adapter.

The GeForce GTX TITAN Z supports DirectX 12, OpenGL 4.4, as well as renowned NVIDIA technologies such as GPU Boost 2.0, PhysX, FXAA ,TXAA, Adaptive VSync and SLI.

In conclusion, it remains to add that the recommended retail price of new items for the United States is at the level of $2999. Who will be interested in this model? According to the developers, it should be of interest to the most demanding users who are already waiting for games with a resolution of 5K, or owners of multi-display configurations.

And yet, whatever one may say, it is impossible not to pay attention to the fact that two GeForce GTX 780 Ti video adapters connected in SLI mode will result in higher performance than TITAN Z. But their cost in this case will be much lower .
