how will the top of the range be?

Huawei is not in a simple period: the now famous question of the ban suffered by the United States of America does not allow it to better develop its smartphones, in fact, less than usual have arrived on the market (and those we find in stores often use components that we have already seen in the past). However, Huawei has definitely not given up and is reacting to the situation. A striking example of the determination of the Chinese company is the recent arrival of Mate 30 Pro in Italy, a device that cannot use Google services but which has real top-of-the-range hardware.
The aforementioned smartphone, however, found itself in the middle of the fuss and therefore probably the Chinese company had not thought of it as a true "answer to the ban". The fans' hype is therefore sky high for the presentation of the Huawei P40 range, which is expected to be held in late March 2020 and could seek to reverse course, responding once and for all to the Trump administration. Well, recently some interesting information about the upcoming smartphones has been leaked online.

Huawei P40 and its alleged data sheet, from cameras to the operating system

Let's start from the most common question among users: which operating system will Huawei P40 mount? Well, the scenario that is most likely to materialize is one in which the Chinese company chooses to use Android 10 and personalization EMUI 10 without Google services. The goal is to strengthen its internal ecosystem, which is starting to get more and more interesting after the agreement with TomTom for maps and the focus placed on AppGallery, the alternative to the Play Store on which Huawei is investing heavily. The HarmonyOS solution does not seem to be ready at the moment, since so far the operating system has been shown mainly in the TV field and exclusively in China.

In short, few think that the Chinese company is really ready to launch a smartphone without Android on a global level, although clearly fans are all hoping that Huawei will deliver such a hit.

Once the OS issue has been overcome, the time has come to see what the characteristics that the Chinese company is aiming to make Huawei P40 stand out among the crowd could be. Well, rumor and leak seem to go in one direction: this range of smartphones will focus particularly on the photographic sector. It must be said that in this case the indiscretions seem a bit like playing the lotto: there are those who talk about seven sensors, who say that there will be five and so on. More models will probably arrive and therefore there will be different solutions from this point of view.
In our view, the most plausible leak is the one that describes the presence of three sensors in the basic variant, four cameras in the Pro variant and five sensors in the Pro PE model. It seems that among the lenses of the Pro variant there may be a 52MP Sony IMX708 main sensor, a 40MP wide angle lens, a telephoto lens and a ToF sensor. This configuration should be able to achieve a 10x zoom without loss of quality (which, apparently, could also be allowed via the wide angle) and to achieve excellent shots even in night contexts. The basic model should instead have a triple 52MP + 40MP + 8MP camera.

For what concern Pro version design, on the right side there should be the volume rocker and the power button, while the left one seems to be completely "empty". At the bottom peek out the USB Type-C port, the first microphone, speakers and the trolley for the SIM, while at the top there may be an infrared port and a second microphone. Therefore, the 3.5mm headphone jack seems to be absent.

The front should instead house a curved panel with rather small edges and a hole for the dual front camera. This design seems to be confirmed also by some photos leaked online, in which a man seems to be holding a prototype of Huawei P40 in the subway. Speaking of the colors, the latter should be Black, Blush Gold, Silver Frost, Ice White and Deep Sea Blue.

Going to the other specifications, it is rumored that Huawei P40 Pro mounts a 6.5 / 6.7-inch AMOLED display with QHD + resolution, 120 Hz refresh rate and about 98% screen-to-body ratio, a powerful Kirin 990 processor 5G, 8 / 12GB of RAM, at least 128GB of internal memory and a 5500 mAh battery with 50W charge.
Autonomy could therefore be one of the "selling points" of the smartphone, given that rapid charging of this type has already shown that it can fully charge a device in about half an hour and that such a large battery would guarantee several days of use. At the moment, rumor and leak have not yet focused on the possible price of these smartphones, although fans expect an aggressive strategy from Huawei.
