HP EX900 Pro M.2 SSD Specs & Features

HP has been on the market for a long time and is already an established brand in terms of many devices such as laptops or monitors, but these SSDs stand out for their quality and durability that go up to 650 TBW with read rates of up to 2095 MB / s. write up to 1965 MB / s. They also come with a separate cache, extending the life of the SSD, since you do not have to have a reserved part of the space to use it as a cache.

The type of driver it uses is unknown, but the original is known to have had a DRAM Silicon Motion SM2263XT powered by Micron's 64MB 3D NAND TLC HMB technology. The Host Memory Buffer allows SSD providers to reserve a part of the SSD's capacity to act as a buffer, compensating for the lack of DRAM in the SSD, thereby increasing its performance. The original EX900 allocates 1 MB of memory for each 1 GB of NAND memory.

The original EX900 offered capacities ranging from 120GB to 1TB. Some reading speed has been lost, around 7%, but sequential speeds have been improved, around 39-61% depending on the model and random, which is where it really stands out, offering between 141% and 161% more than the previous model.

Its durability has been increased by 60%. This increase in durability leads us to believe that HP is using higher-density NANDs, going from the 64 layers used to the 3D 96 layer Micron TLC.

The HP EX900 Pro comes in 3 different models with the following storage capacities: 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB.

The top-of-the-range model, the 1 TB EX900 Pro, achieves a sequential read speed of 2095 MBps, while in sequential writing it achieves 1965 MBps. The lower model in these sections achieves 2080 MBps and 1800 MBps, while the one with the lowest capacity drops to 1960 MBps and 1120 MBps

As for the random read and write capabilities of the lower capacity model, the HP EX900 Pro 256GB achieves 167k IOPS and 259k IOPS speeds respectively. The next highest gets 193k IOPS and 282k IOPS and the top of the range gets 283k IOPS and 286k IOPS.

More capacity and more quality, HP always trying to improve to offer the best

In the section of the durability or resistance we are talking about a 60% increase with respect to the model it happens to. In this model the resistance doubles as its capacity doubles, the 256 GB model starts from 160 TBW. The 512 GB model doubles that figure to 320 TWB and the top of the range with 1 TB has a resistance of 650 TBW.

In the consumption section we have the most basic model with a consumption of only 3.22W active and 0.66W at rest. The intermediate model with a consumption of 4.29W active and 0.67W at rest and the top of the range with 4.38W consumption and 0.68W at rest.

In the warranty section, this HP EX900 Pro SSD is backed by nothing less than 5 years so HP shows that it is very satisfied with the reliability of these SSDs.

The price of the HP EX900 Pro SSD in the market is currently unknown and it is also unknown when it will be released, but it is supposed to be soon.
