Intel Arc graphics card with 450 watts? The company showed a prototype by accident

During an interview by HotHardware with Tom Peterson from Intel, an interesting Intel Arc graphics card appeared in the frame for a moment, which is probably a model with a power of 450 watts. However, it is so strange that the card world has already received a modern ATX 3.0 power connector that can deliver up to 600 watts of power, and here you are – the prototype of the card has three standard 8-pin power connectors.

Is it the Intel Arc graphics card with a power of 450 watts that showed up in the lens?

As per Intel ATX 3.0 specification, the new 12VHPWR power connector only applies to GPUs above 300 watts to free them from a nasty looking set of three PCIe power connectors. Therefore, it can be assumed that the card visible at some point on the screen has a much lower power consumption, and the addition of the 3rd connector raises the possibility of supplied power from 300 to 450 watts especially for testing.

What is certain is that it was a prototype of a desktop graphics card with a PCIe x16 interface, which is nothing like the official Intel Arc cards. So chances are we’ve seen either a really early prototype of upcoming models or something completely new that we don’t even expect like a next-generation Battlmage card, which should actually boost the TDP level by over 300 watts. The presence of standard connectors instead of new ones may also be due to the greater compatibility.
