“I heat, I don’t smoke” – this is what about 6 million adults who have abandoned traditional cigarettes in favor of the IQOS tobacco heater are already saying. This is an electronic device manufactured by Philip Morris International. IQOS appeared on our market last year as the first product of this type available in Poland. It gains new followers every day. On October 23, 2018 in Tokyo, Japan, the premiere of the new generation of the device took place. I am talking about IQOS 3 and IQOS 3 Multi. How do they differ from their predecessors?
IQOS, a device from the “heat – not – burn” category, is an alternative to traditional cigarettes. The aerosol produced by them resembles the smoke produced when burning, but it is created not by burning, but by heating a special HEETS cartridge to the appropriate temperature. As a result, the aerosol with nicotine released during the use of IQOS is devoid, on average, of 90-95% of hazardous substances harmful to the human body. No wonder that devices of this type are attracting more and more attention in the world.
After the version of IQOS presented in 2017 and the improved IQOS 2.4 PLUS, which has been available in Poland for several months, the time has come for new products. The first of the new tobacco heaters presented in Japan is IQOS 3. Although it resembles its predecessor, the differences cannot be ignored. First of all, the device has a more modern design, it is slightly smaller and more functional. It also has a different design. What exactly has changed? First of all, the method of inserting and removing the device from the housing that powers it. The flap does not open up, so to remove the heater, we now have to press the bottom of the housing and open the long pocket with a stick for heating tobacco inserts. It is much more convenient for users. In addition, the new IQOS 3 charges up to 15% faster than the 2.4Plus version. Battery life has also been extended.
IQOS 3 Multi was also presented during the premiere. Here you can already see significant differences compared to the predecessors. When creating this device, Philip Morris resigned from the characteristic case with a power bank. The IQOS 3 Multi is also larger and longer, but narrower than the others. However, users will be interested in something else. IQOS 3 Multi is equipped with the possibility of heating HEETS inserts one by one. By using the heater, you will no longer need to recharge the stick in the powerbank after each use. A large, built-in battery will allow you to use 10 cartridges on one battery cycle.
It is worth noting that both devices use the USB-C port for the first time, not the microUSB port. IQOS 3 and IQOS 3 Multi will be available in four colors: blue, gold, black and white. In addition, the tip and the outer part of the IQOS 3 flip on the case can be personalized. In total, it will be as many as 576 different color combinations.
The new IQOS models will hit the global market on November 15. They will first appear where the brand’s brand stores are located. The exact premiere of the device in Poland is not known yet.
