MOSCOW, 14 Oct – PRIME. The G7 countries damage their own energy security by limiting prices for Russian energy carriers, Ahmad Asadzadeh, deputy head of the Iranian oil ministry, told RIA Novosti.
“This is a shot at their own energy security,” he said.
Asadzade stressed that Iran has been living under sanctions restrictions for forty years and was able to benefit from them, including by learning how to produce its own equipment. “In my opinion, the steps taken against Russia will also benefit the Russian Federation,” the deputy minister said.
According to him, the time for unilateral approaches is long gone, so measures like those of the G7 will no longer work.
On September 2, the finance ministers of the G7 countries confirmed their intention to impose a price limit on Russian oil and oil products. It is expected that the measures will be taken in three stages: for crude oil, they will come into force as early as 5 December.
The US Treasury suggested that the ceiling could be $60 per barrel.
