Is Nvidia working on a mysterious 5 nanometer chip?

Recently TSMC confirmed that volume production a 5 nanometers is already underway with satisfactory returns, which means that it is ready to meet Apple's requests, which will most likely be the first to commercially adopt the new process for the next iPhone chip. The 5 nanometers will then be applied in revised and corrected versions also in other products, for example the AMD processors based on Zen 4 architecture expected in 2021, starting from the "Genoa" EPYC CPUs.

However, according to what Digitimes confided from industrial sources (via Tom's Hardware), Nvidia would also be among TSMC's customers for the new production process. No, don't expect 5-nanometer Ampere GPUs, those solutions are likely to be made at 7 nanometers, so what is Nvidia working on? It is not known. Speculation has already started, so much so that there are those who murmur Nvidia is planning a new Tegra chip that will end up in the "Nintendo Switch 2" or in some project in which the Tegra SoCs are involved, from automotive to robotics.

The Digitimes however reports that both Nvidia and AMD would have recently increased their 7 nanometer chip orders in preparation for the products that will arrive in the second half of the year. An increase in orders possible thanks to the passage of Apple to 5 nanometers and which will free up production lines. It is rumored that this will allow AMD to become TSMC's first customer for 7 nanometers. Nvidia is expected to unveil a new range of GeForce RTX video cards and Tesla accelerators, while AMD will renew the offer of processors and video cards with the second generation of 7 nanometers.
