Typically, laptop users have to be content with the extremely modest performance of mobile GPUs. Some find a way out in using expensive external video cards, but this way of solving the problem is not only very expensive, but also limited by the bandwidth of the Thunderbolt 3 or USB Type-C interfaces.
Lenovo’s Chinese subsidiary, called Kosin, showed a different and unique way to connect an RTX 3090 graphics card to a laptop. It uses the M.2 interface. The company’s video used an Air 14 laptop with a Ryzen 4600U processor, equipped with a special adapter for use with the flagship RTX 3090 graphics card plugged into an M.2 slot.
After all these manipulations, the card was tested in 3D Mark Time Spy, where it scored 14,008 points. This is slightly below the standard performance of this graphics adapter connected via a classic PCIe connector. Paired with Intel Core i9-10900K, its results exceed 15 thousand points.
