Big companies really care about their employees and try to provide them with the best possible conditions… or at least they want to be said. They will get an opportunity to do so soon, because the LG project, which is a large line of exoskeletons, is already one step away from entering the consumer market in its final version.
We are talking exactly about the CLOi SuitBot, PorterBot, ServeBot and CartBot exoskeleton, which will be presented at CES 2019 in January. SuitBot, which was revealed at last year’s IFA in Berlin, has undergone the greatest changes by far. It is an “overlay” on the lower body, designed to help factory workers. I am talking precisely about the activities such as carrying heavy objects, which, with the support of SuitBot, are to be less tiring, and additionally minimizing the risk of damage to health. Previously, the user had to put an exoskeleton on both the waist and the legs, but now LG has tried to “cut off” the part going down to the feet and reduce it to the adjustable mechanism of the two-piece belt on the abdomen and the one-piece support structure that branches from it to both thighs .
Its operation, however, remained identical – SuitBot activates when the carrier is bent at an angle of 65 degrees to support its capabilities and deactivates after returning to the vertical position. The on-board battery allows for 4 hours of continuous operation after an hour of charging. So much for Suitbot, although the changes to other LG works are rather marginal. Attempts have been made only to improve connectivity and navigation, but the system based on artificial intelligence that adjusts exoskeletons to the individual needs of users definitely promises to be interesting. Especially since LG should soon release its CLOi family to the market.
