LG ready to present the first 48 OLED TVs, a small revolution

At the next CES in Las Vegas there will be no important news on OLED technology. LG’s roadmap is clear, no revolutions but only small refinements compared to what was seen in 2019. Moreover, the quality achieved is already very high now, difficult to do better. Despite this, important announcements will not be missing, above all on the price and available offer front.
Today it is possible to take home a 55 “OLED of 2019 between 1000 and 1300 €, depending on the model, this year, however, the price bar is set to decrease further, thanks to the introduction of the increasingly certain 48-inch cut, intended to bring OLED technology to costs never seen before.

Revolution in the low end of the market?

In recent years the market has focused on 55-inch TVs and up. The reason is simple: large cuts are the ones that have grown the most in terms of sales. This situation led to a small paradox, that is the absence of high quality models but of smaller dimensions. The whole market, except for a few rare exceptions, has focused on the larger cuts, where we find a very rich offer, both in the OLED and in the LCD field. Staying on OLEDs, their cost is now accessible to a large section of the public, who, however, is often faced with a not insignificant problem: space.

Not everyone can place a 55-inch TV at home, but if you are looking for a quality TV, this is the minimum size to start from. Then there are other specific cases, for example we think of gamers looking for a good TV to place in a bedroom, difficult to find if you are looking for the maximum viewing experience.

That’s why the probable arrival of the new 48 “OLED panels could give a good jolt to the market, bringing this technology outside the living rooms and above all lowering sales prices. List prices will certainly be high, but reality has already shown how far the cost of an OLED TV can go down. If today it is possible to buy, according to the offers, a model of the 2019 range of LG from 55 inches to just over 1000 euros, how far can a possible 48 inch go?

Impossible to give a certain estimate now but it could to stay permanently under 1000 euros, price destined to drop further with discounts and offers. A product of this type would have no rivals in this price range, in the LCD field the best solutions are all of a size equal to or greater than 55 “.
In practice, LG has the keys to the medium-low-end TV market in its hands, offering, at least at a potential level, the best viewing quality in relation to the price. In short, a small revolution that could bring low-cost but high quality televisions to the home.
