MOSCOW, 21 Oct – PRIME. Taiwanese electronics maker Foxconn said on Friday that production at its largest iPhone factory in the Chinese city of Zhengzhou remained at normal levels, despite the factory tightening COVID-19-related regulations this week, Reuters reported
On the Zhengzhou campus, where Apple Inc.’s iPhones are assembled, there are about 300,000 workers who have been banned from eating in the city since Wednesday and must take food to their dorms. This is stated in the message in the official account of the enterprise in the WeChat network.
“(Factory in) Zhengzhou continues to maintain production at normal levels and suffered little (from the said situation),” Foxconn told Reuters.
The new measures follow another outbreak in Zhengzhou, where a total of 196 cases have been reported since October 8. Meanwhile, Foxconn’s local factory is ramping up production of the new iPhone 14.
Apple has not yet responded to Reuters’ request for comment.
