MSI forgoes paper-based motherboard manuals … and that’s a good thing!

Currently purchased MSI motherboards will be one of the last ones in which the boxes will contain all the “paperwork”, which is for the most part a redundant addition (except for the suspicion of DRAM channels or POST codes). The company decided that it should go greener and therefore you won’t find instructions in MSI motherboard boxes anymore.

An ongoing trend in the technology industry, under which companies commit to becoming carbon neutral by investing in clean energy, changes in packaging and content. MSI felt it would be right to remove all paper material from motherboard boxes to “protect trees.” This applies not only to manuals, guides, but also to marketing materials.

“MSI is committed to mitigating the environmental impact of its business operations through green production and supply chain management,” the company said in a statement on its website. “We have actively invested in improving energy consumption, reducing waste and controlling chemicals in response to the risks of climate change.”

In the future, MSI will simply direct customers to its website and find all the necessary documentation for its motherboard in digital form. For customers who need extra help finding the documentation, a QR code will be found on the product box that will take them directly to the digital motherboard documentation. With time, the same will probably happen to all other products of this manufacturer.
