MSI Project Zero like a perfect motherboard? Certainly not for the applicants

It seems MSI is turning the ongoing trend of covering as many motherboards as possible into something extraordinary. This is indicated by Project Zero, which is a motherboard almost completely “free” from “ugly” connectors and ports, which he posted on his Twitter @g01d3nm4ng0probably doing them at Computex.

Looking at MSI Project Zero, it is not difficult not to notice the great similarity to the MEG Unify Z90 in the version with four DDR5 slots. However, it’s hard to compare this motherboard to anything else on the market (except Gigabyte Project Stealth), because in its case practically everything is covered. We were left with only three free PCIe ports, four DDR5 ports, a CPU socket and the big Power and Reset buttons in the upper right corner. In addition, it is difficult to get any connectors from the top.

Access to some of them (including M.2 ports for disks) is obtained after disassembling the heat sinks in the form of aluminum plates between the PCIe slots, but the power and transmission connectors have been completely removed from the top panel and moved to the back. Just like that – to the rearwhich completed their 90-degree rotation and I just want to emphasize that at the moment it is just a concept that may never hit the market.

We already see the problems with connecting everything in the process of assembling the system and its modernization, and the potential for damage if someone chooses the housing incorrectly. It is no secret that this type of design will require both larger screws and stands to be lifted by these few centimeters in the housing.
