The giant of streaming Netflix it is gradually restoring the highest streaming quality in Europe, after announcing a temporary reduction in transmission bitrates in March to meet the requests of the European Commission to reduce the load on the continent's internet infrastructure.
The measure taken by Netflix was quickly adopted also by other companies operating in the world of streaming video content. With this measure Netflix has estimated a reduction of its traffic on European networks in the order of 25%.
Hand in hand with the easing of lockdown measures in all European countries, Netflix therefore decides to also loosen the self-imposed limits. He is currently doing it a little leopard-like and, as the Flatpanels HD website indicates, Denmark, Norway and Germany are the first countries where it occurred. restoring 4K and HDR broadcasts. The first signs of Germany had already occurred a few days ago.
From what we could see with the users of those who, among the editorial staff, subscribers to the streaming service, here in Italy broadcasts seem to be still limited: we have not found any streaming results with bitrates at 15 megabits per second.
"We are working with connectivity providers to help expand capacity. We have quadrupled normal capacity in the past few months. As conditions improve, we will suspend these limitations," Netflix said in a statement.
It is likely that the other video streaming services, at this point, will also decide to restore the delivery of content to the highest possible quality. Apple TV +, for example, it has already brought video streaming back to 4K quality over the past few weeks, after limiting content to a maximum resolution of 670 pixels high.
