No, this is not the first image of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080

An image found on the web claims to be her.

Rumors are swirling around the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 – the next generation graphics card that is likely to arrive (alongside other RTX 3000 series graphics cards) this year – and a new image has surfaced online that apparently shows what the next graphics card will look like.

However, even though we can’t wait to see the RTX 3080 (or maybe a graphics card with a different name, it all depends on Nvidia), the image posted on the web is almost certainly faked.

First of all, the snapshot appeared on the Slashleaks website, and then it was deleted, with incredibly slippery evidence from a user who, apparently, has not previously published any other leaks.

It looks like the image was leaked by an employee (or someone with a connection to the company) TSMC. TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company) is a company that works with Nvidia and AMD to create chips that work in final products.

The image shows a supposedly elongated GPU with three fans, but otherwise looks suspiciously similar to the RTX 2080 Ti.

Turning on a third fan on an existing product (and extending the length of the graphics card) is a relatively easy task for a Photoshop user and any other photo editor, so the image seems far from convincing to us.

We expected to hear more about Nvidia’s plans for next-gen custom graphics cards at Computex 2020, but since the Taiwan tech show has been delayed until late September due to the pandemic, we may have to wait a little longer to find out more.

We hope we don’t have to wait long before there is fresh information on the new RTX 3080 as Nvidia may decide to showcase its GPUs at its own event. If more leaks (real or otherwise) go online, perhaps Nvidia will do so.

These are the best graphics cards of 2020.
