One of Europe’s largest low-cost airlines, Norwegian, has announced that it will accept cryptocurrency, including bitcoin, as a way to pay for tickets. The company also launched its own crypto exchange.
For now, the service is only available to customers in Norway. The Exchange will be launched in August and will soon expand in neighboring countries as well.
The Norwegian Block Exchange (NBX) plans to offer payment and advisory services for blockchain solutions. The current Norwegian rewards program will be extended to the crypto exchange. Users who use the exchange can earn a loyalty point that can be converted into ticket discounts.
“Cryptomonas and trading of digital assets have been restricted to niches. NBX aims to make cryptomontage trading a part of the daily experience of investors, “
explained on the company’s website.
In a recent post on the official block, NBX claimed:
“By creating a system to make cryptomonade payments easier, users will soon find that this is just another choice in the list of payment methods.
Many travel sites have built-in payment services for cryptomonas, but it’s not the same as integrating a direct payment system. We aim to eliminate intermediaries and combat the monopoly of companies like Visa and Mastercard, which impose significant taxes. “
In 2018, Norwegian transported over 37 million passengers in 2018, a 13% increase over the previous year.
