MOSCOW, September 5 – PRIME. Norway will ship record volumes of gas to Europe this year, Frode Leversund, CEO of Norwegian gas transmission operator Gassco, told Reuters.

In addition, Norway will export large volumes of gas to the EU in the next few years.
According to Refinitiv Eikon, Norway this year has become the largest supplier of gas to Europe, overtaking Russia. Norwegian gas deliveries to Europe have increased by 4.97 billion cubic meters this year, equivalent to 60 terawatt-hours, according to Gassco.
Norway’s export capacity will be reduced in September due to scheduled maintenance, but the country’s gas transmission system will be “ready for the onset of winter” on October 1, Leversund said.
According to him, pipeline gas supplies from Norway to Europe in 2022 could reach a record 117 billion cubic meters against 113.2 billion cubic meters last year.
With a similar duration of maintenance work, Norway will be able to deliver sustained high volumes over the next two to three years, he added.
