Nvidia enters the mobile market with the RTX 2080

Maybe unofficially, but this is the only news we have received about Nvidia’s plans with the Turing family and their future in the mobile market. It turns out that the laptop with the RTX 2080 core under the hood will debut first.

We know this from the Github entry and the Nvidia database itself. While we would not take the first source seriously, as it only revealed versions of the graphics cores, the information was confirmed by a leak from the base itself. This is exactly the part of the document that points to several GPUs:

  • Turing TU102: 1e02, 1e04, 1e07
  • Turing TU102GL: 1e30, 1e3c, 1e3d
  • Turing TU104: 1e82, 1e87
  • Turing TU104M: 1eab
  • Turing TU106: 1f07

We are now interested in TU104M, which also appeared as an entry in the mentioned database:

This is definitely important news for mobile gaming fanatics who do not want to opt for a full-fledged PC. Nvidia will traditionally reduce TDP and core clocks straight from the RTX 2080 model and give it to external manufacturers under the name RTX 2080 Max-Q. The information received by the Wccftech service indicates that the difference in weight between the Pascal models will not be noticeable. The premiere of the first devices equipped with new cards is to take place this year, as evidenced by today’s leaks and even information from a few months ago.
